Histopathological Comparative Analysis between Syndromic and Non-Syndromic Odontogenic Keratocysts: A Retrospective Study

چکیده
(1) Background: The aim of this study was to compare the histopathological features syndromic and non-syndromic odontogenic keratocysts (OKs) using conventional Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) with their biological behaviour. (2) Methods: Data from medical records 113 patients histological diagnosis (single and/or multiple) OKs were collected. Globally, 213 (120 93 sporadic) retrieved, slides re-evaluated H&E staining autofluorescence on same CLSM (Nikon Eclipse E600 microscope). (3) Results: Syndromic showed more satellite cysts than sporadic cases, as well a basophilic layer in basement membrane, which absent OKs; both highlighted CLSM. membrane appeared amorphous fragile, thus possibly being responsible for epithelial detachment collapse, scalloped features. Furthermore, basal layers such cases also increased cellularity proliferative activity. All these may justify higher tendency recur. (4) Conclusions: is useful advanced technology that could help quickly easily discriminate between accurately predict behaviour order set fitter clinico-radiological follow-ups individual patients.

Non-Syndromic Recurrent Multiple Odontogenic Keratocysts: A Case Report
Odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs) are one of the most frequent features of nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBS). It is linked with mutation in the PTCH gene. Partial expression of the gene may result in occurrence of only multiple recurring OKC. Our patient presented with nine cysts with multiple recurrences over a period of 11 years without any other manifestation of the syndrome.

BACKGROUND To compare the metallothionein (MT) immunoexpression in non-syndromic and syndromic keratocystic odontogenic tumour (KOT), to correlate MT with cellular proliferation, and to evaluate the influence of inflammation in MT. STUDY DESIGN Fourteen cases of KOT were submitted to immunohistochemistry for MT and Ki-67 analysis. The lesions were grouped according to their grade of inflammat...

Subjects and Methods : This retrospective study used 7753 panoramic radiographs of patients who presented themselves at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department from Ja...
متن کاملNon-Syndromic Multiple Odontogenic Keratocyst: A Case Report
Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is a common developmental odontogenic cyst affecting the maxillofacial region. Multiple OKCs are usually seen in association with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) but approximately 5% of patients with OKC have multiple cysts without concomitant syndromic presentation. This report represents a case of multiple OKCs in a non-syndromic patient.
